Originally, the Reserve Bank of India had given wallet companies 30 deadlines within which they were required to KYC all users.

Deadline was extended in February 2019
Originally, the RBI had earlier fixed its deadline February 2019 but later extended it for 6 months on demand from the companies. Now there are only a few days left to finish KYC. According to estimates, about 30 to 40 percent of users did not do KYC.

The rule for KYC has changed
Formerly KYC used to upload only the PAN card or Aadhaar card attached documents, but now not only will the job be done but the company executive will go to the given address and check the truth. Wallet companies say that their cost has increased manifold due to physical verification. Paytm and other wallet companies have also requested RBI to offer KYC video, but no decision has been made yet.

Millions of people use wallets
More than 10 wallets are being used in the country for digital payments. Most users have only Paytm with 35 million users. In addition, Google Pay, Phone-Pay, Mobiwik, Yono SBI, ICICI Pocket, HDFC Package, Bhim App, Amazon-Pay and FreeCharge are also used by millions.
