Whatsapp UPI Payment: In India, Whatsapp users will now be able to transfer money to another person through this same app. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has given this approval to Whatsapp. Whatsapp has been waiting for it for about 3 years and now the company has made it live in India. Whatsapp UPI based payment has been tested before.
Payment went live on Whatsapp in India
Ajit Mohan, head of Facebook India, said, "Payment has gone live on Whatsapp in India and people will be able to send money through Whatsapp." We are excited that the company will be able to contribute to India's digital payment shift.

To use Whatsapp Payments, customers need to have a debit card that supports UPI. By going to Whatsapp payment option, you can select the bank, register the details and activate it.
Whatsapp has stated in its statement that, from today, Whatsapp users across the country will be able to pay with this app. Whatsapp's secure payment experience will make sending money as easy as possible.
Whatsapp has teamed up with the National Payments Corporation of India to develop a Unified Payment System (UPI) based payment interface and also focuses on data localization.
Whatsapp has signed agreements with five major banks
Whatsapp has entered into agreements with five major banks for payment services. These include ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, SBI and JIo Payments Bank.
Let's say that money can be sent to Whatsapp through Whatsapp as well as any UPI supported app. This means that even if someone does not use Whatsapp Payment, you will be able to make payment through Whatsapp.
According to Whatsapp, making payments here will be secure and a UPI PIN will be required for each transaction. The company said in a statement that Whatsapp Payment will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. Users can update the app for it.
