New Delhi: You will no longer need more documents to get a driving license. The central government has simplified a number of rules for making DLs. Which will save people from running in vain. A notification has also been issued to enforce these rules. This will make the process of getting a driving license as well as vehicle registration much easier.
Only Aadhaar card required
According to the new notification, the Aadhaar card will henceforth be used to create online driving licenses, renew licenses, change vehicle addresses and change addresses in related documents. The changes came at the behest of the Road Transport Ministry. The purpose behind this is to prevent DL and car registration from adding fake addresses. Now people can do their work from home. Aadhaar authentication will work if anyone wants an online service.
The road ministry offered one more major relief due to the Corona virus epidemic. The ministry has extended the validity period of driving license and motor vehicle documents. The ministry has extended the validity of other documents including driving license, vehicle permit and registration till December 31, 2020 this year.
This is a good opportunity if you want to link your Aadhaar card with your driving license. Because now DL is supported by L.
The linking process
- You have to go to sarathi.parivahan.gov website first.
- Now select the state to which your DL belongs.
- Now a window will open in front of you.
- Click Apply Online in the menu bar on the right here.
- Then click on Services on Driving License (Renewal / Duplicate / Aedl / Others).

Now you will have the complete information of DL in front of you. Below that you will also find the option of mobile number and Aadhaar card. Then you have to enter your Aadhaar number and OTP. Your driver's license (DL) will now be updated
